A bloody murder scene along a California highway leads Investigator Paul Holes on a generational journey, as he discovers a killer’s past could shine a light on a long-dormant cold case. Along the way, Paul finds that the impulse for violent crime sometimes runs in the family.

Our own Detective Dave investigates a shockingly violent attack on two guards in a small town jail. It’s a case that brings into sharp focus the risks that law enforcement officers take every day to keep others, and themselves, safe.

Steve is a popular guy. He edits the local paper. He owns the local stationary store. His new restaurant is the most popular spot for miles around. And he’s just opened up a new pub. The only problem is every one of his businesses seems to be failing. Detective BK gets a tip that there’s something shady is going on with Steve’s accounts and his investors have started to notice. Today we hear from our own Detective Dave as he investigates disturbing allegations of child abuse. Just as he prepares to take his suspect into custody, he learns the suspect has fled on a bus and has a 12-hour head start. Unable to make up the time and distance in pursuit of the suspect, himself, Dave is forced to rely on other agencies along the bus route to try and intercept the fugitive before he gets away for good.

A woman is out jogging on a country road when she sees a white van in the area that appears to be lost. As the woman goes up to the driver to offer directions, she notices he’s holding handcuffs and a roll of duct tape.

A family finds the dead body of a woman on a remote logging road. It’s wrapped in a blanket. Police at first don’t know what happened, though foul play is suspected. They figure out who the victim is and then find her boyfriend, who happens to be in jail for a separate assault. Despite thin resources, detectives begin to build a case.

The following episode discusses a child pornography investigation however, no specific narratives of the images will be shared. In this case, Detective Dave walks us through his investigation of two online predators who were sexually exploiting children online and how multiple agencies around the country work together to try to keep children safe. Of the 6+ years Dave spent investigating sex crimes and child abuse, these two cases, in particular, got under his skin and changed him forever.

Carlos arrives to work and finds his manager-boss dead in the walk-in freezer. He calls 911. Investigator Tracey arrives and begins to peel back the onion revealing a robbery and a vendetta.

There was no sign of forced entry and no obvious indication of how a middle-aged woman died in her hotel room. Detectives Dan, Dave, and George recount their investigation into a case that took them across state lines, tested their agility, and landed them in some very unusual circumstances, even for seasoned homicide detectives.

A husband breathlessly calls 9-1-1 to say that he just arrived home to find his wife dead of a gunshot wound. As the 9-1-1 operator immediately dispatches officers to the scene, she tries to get as much information as she can from the husband about what happened. But his odd behavior during the call raises some serious red flags. Lt. Scott returns to Small Town Dicks with another shocking case that involves clandestine recordings, suspect interviews, and good old fashioned detective work.
